Jeidi was the clever little knick name that this ever-loving athletic couple had...there was even a little fairytale comic book with the cute moniker to tell their love story. When I met Heidi, it was at a Starbucks in the Beaches of Toronto. She had been referred by a woman I went to school with (just a sec, every once in a while when I get down, I remember the little moments that validate what I'm doing - this was one of them. Being referred by a woman I didn't even realize took notice of my work!), who had told her I was a fellow business woman (Heidi is part of a female partnership Real Estate team in Toronto). We chatted over coffee about what Heidi and Jeff were looking for, and quickly thereafter we were dotting the i's and crossing the t's.
Heidi and Jeff's wedding was going to be a lot of work, not because of anything too complex, but because there were a lot of moving parts and it was number two of my back-to-back weddings that weekend. Jeff had hand-made a number of custom wooden pieces for the event, including a series of lawn games and a beautiful rustic bar. A lot of the décor was being brought by the couple specifically, and the whole affair was to take place under the largest tent capacity the venue could allow, with over 300 guests. Again, a lot of moving parts!
The wedding was set to be outdoors on the grounds of the Beautiful Markham Children's Museum. We were blessed with wonderful weather for mid-September, in fact, it was really hot! The day started in the Beaches, with the bridesmaids getting ready at an AirBNB and the groomsmen at the couples' home. From there, we travelled to the Scarborough Bluffs for their first look. Earlier that year, the couple had literally scaled the cliffs to find the perfect first look location, overlooking Lake Ontario, and the location did not disappoint!
After the first look, we were off to Heidi's parents home for a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony, where Heidi changed into her Cheongsam and the couple received their blessings among friends and family and delicious Chinese food lunch!
The ceremony took place on the grounds in front of a rustic barn on a stunning rolling green lawn. The wedding party walked down the aisle to the beautiful voice and acoustic guitar of Jeremy De Freitas - an amazing talent turned friend. From the I-do's, guests were then escorted to cocktail hour where they played those lawn games while the couple carted around the museum for photos. Cocktail hour and dinner were deliciously catered by No Small Feast (formerly Grapevine Catering), and everyone continued to be serenated by Jeremy. The reception tent consisted of long harvest tables decorated with simple, elegant greenery garlands and lots of romantic candlelight. The whole look and feel of the wedding was simple, elegant, and classic, with whites and greys complimented with wooden accents and greenery. The formal part of the evening ended with an epic lip-sync battle between bridesmaids and groomsmen, and from there the guests and wedding party danced the night away.
This was by far one of the DWevents teams' favourite weddings to be a part of. From the design, to the familial feeling we received from everyone in the wedding party and families on both sides. Heidi and Jeff, and everyone else involved, literally are meant to be. From Heidi and Jeff, to their friends, and their families, all of them are perfectly meant to be in each others' lives. We are so thankful for the opportunity to have been a part of such an amazing experience.
Cheers to team Jeidi, and their Happily Ever After!
